Important (Pool Rule #17)

In Florida, community pools must close during heavy rain or thunderstorms, and children are absolutely not permitted to swim during these weather conditions. Lifeguard staff or the responsible amenity managers enforce strict closure rules for pool areas in the event of inclement

weather, especially when lightning or thunder is present.

Children may not swim during storms, and adult supervision is required for pool use in general. Most communities require that children are supervised at all times, with stricter enforcement during hazardous weather.

Due to Florida’s high risk of lightning strikes, swimming outside during thunderstorms is considered especially unsafe, and both local and state safety guidelines reinforce immediate evacuation from pools during such conditions.
